While the M113K was used for the remainder of the G55's production run, this engine was given regular updates which saw power increase from 469hp when launched, to 500hp at the end of production, with torque remaining constant at 516 lb ft. Many Mercedes-AMG enthusiasts consider the M113K as the last of the great Kompressor engines used by Mercedes-AMG excluding. And unfortunately, Mercedes-AMG replaced this model with the new naturally aspirated 6.2 L V8, which marks the transition from 55 AMG to 63 AMG. The M113 Kompressor is a supercharged and twin-intercooled E 55 AMG to 574 bhp (582 PS 428 kW) in the 20042006 CLK DTM AMG, with 700 to 800 Nm (516 to 590 lbft) of torque at 2,7504,000 rpm. From the 2005 model year onward, the G55 was given a supercharged version of the M113 E55 that is commonly referred to as the M113K (K for Kompressor), and only offered in long wheelbase versions. Many AMG enthusiasts argue that the M113K was the last of the excellent Kompressor engine used, excluding the Mercedes SLR McLaren. Initially, the G55 AMG was available in short and long wheelbase versions, and was fitted with Mercedes' M113 E55 engine, which was a 5.4L naturally aspired V8 that generated 354hp and 387 lb ft of torque. These cars were released globally in 2000, but only made it to the North American market officially for the 2002 model year.
